Harry Potter Blu Ray Box Set Prices for Cyber Monday

Just a few days ago on Black Friday, Amazon lowered the price of the Harry Potter DVD box set for both the regular version and the Blu ray version, but the sales only lasted for one day.  Many people have been wondering is Amazon will offer these movies at an even steeper discount for Cyber Monday.  The price of the set when it debuted for pre-order was $48.99 regular and $79.99 for the Blu-ray version.  On Black Friday, Amazon temporarily lowered these prices to $39.99 and $69.99.  In a little more than an hour, we should see if they intend to match or beat those prices for Cyber Monday.

One potential hiccup is that, as of the time of this writing, Amazon is estimating the shipping date for the movies to be “from 11 to 13 days” for the regular DVD box set (the blu-ray is listed as being in-stock).  This is probably because of the response to the lower pricing on Black Friday, when the blu-ray set rose to the #1 ranking among blu-ray movies in terms of units sold at Amazon.  Demand is also expected to increase as word gets out that Warner Brothers, the studio that produced the movies, is planning to pull ALL versions of the movies off the market at the end of this year.  It is expected that customers will rush to buy the movies while they are still available.  If you are thinking of giving these DVDs as a Christmas gift, you should order early to make sure that they ship in time for Christmas.

The question remains: will Amazon reduce the prices for Cyber Monday?  Only time will tell.  In addition to one day sales, Amazon also does special sales that last as little as one hour, but those sales don’t often include their most popular items.  The lowest prices of the year are usually seen on Black Friday and on Cyber Monday.  You can see the current pricing by visiting this link to Amazon.

Update: It looks like Amazon is NOT going to be offering the same prices that they offered on the day after Thanksgiving. That means that the current price is likely to be the lowest we’ll see from now until Christmas, and the price may actually go up.  Now would be the time to buy in order to assure you’ll get the item in time for holiday gift giving.
