Amazon gave a sneak peak on their possible Black Friday special pricing on the DVDs of the Harry Potter films by dropping the regularly reduced price of $48.99 to $39.99 on Thanksgiving day. The Blu-ray version was still priced at its normally reduced price of $79.99, although it may be reduced on the day after Thanksgiving–we’ll just have to wait and see if they offer special pricing for that version. It is also possible that they will reduce the price temporarily on Cyber Monday, which is the Monday after Thanksgiving, and is considered to be the biggest shopping day of the year for online merchants, so they often offer limited-time offers on that day, sometimes lasting as little as an hour.
The version of the Harry Potter movies that is available this year is not the long-anticipated deluxe edition, which has led many people to speculate that Warner Brothers plans to release that version in time for Christmas 2012. As it stands, the complete 8 film set of DVDs that is linked to above is the best-available option for an excellent gift for any fan of the Harry Potter films, other than the blu-ray version of the same set. $39.99 is an excellent price for this set, and it is likely that this is the lowest price we’ll see this year. If you keep in mind that the films will be taken off the market at the end of the year, this seems like the perfect time to snatch this set at a great price!
